The Birmingham and Mancino families request the pleasure of your company as Sam and Michael join in marriage.

Our story

Michael and Sam met in Boston at the end of 2018.

Their first date consisted of a drink, dinner, and Michael being immediately thrown into the fire by attending a Christmas party with nearly all of Sam’s friends. It being Michael, he handled it with ease, and everyone in the room fell for him. He started visiting more regularly, and Sam made frequent trips down to New York.

After a few months of commuting back and forth, Sam made the move to Brooklyn. Sure, for a career shift, but it likely wouldn’t have happened without Michael. After he abused his sister’s and brother-in-law’s more-than-generous hospitality at their apartment, Sam moved into a hastily made (illegal) bedroom built on the roof of Doc Marten’s in Williamsburg. Michael moved into a shoebox in Gramercy.

Given the most typical of starter apartments in New York, they were more than happy to escape to Stowe for nearly the entire pandemic. Sam’s hours were cut back and Michael was temporarily furloughed. Nearly every day had a cooking project, a walk/hike, and a fire and/or outdoor shower (season-dependent). They spent longer periods with each other’s families, an incredibly uncommon opportunity only made rarer by their gratitude for the situation.

Michael moved back to New York in 2021— to Williamsburg. Later that year, Sam moved into a Greenwich Village sublet with the aim of both leases ending at the same time.

When that goal came to fruition, rather than choose an apartment for the following month in the city, they opted for a month in Barga, Italy. They worked East Coast hours, had lots of espresso, and made friends with the local enoteca owner in what can charitably be called broken Italian.

They’ve since lived in Brooklyn, with some stints back in Vermont. Nearly everyone has slept on their pull-out couch, stayed for an after-hours dinner party, been over for an early morning pastry, or been dragged to a restaurant in Brooklyn.

Sam and Michael got engaged at the farm in December 2024, around the fireplace and almost six years to the day of their first date. A year and a half later, on the same property, this wedding will honor them and their relationship. More than that, the celebration is meant to thank the countless loved ones who supported them and made it all possible.

Nothing makes them happier than bringing together family and friends into a welcoming space with delicious food.

They cannot wait to welcome you.
